In the Analyze phase in CAM Assist, it is possible to add a finishing operation.
Adding an operation is useful if you have faces that remain Excluded, due to Strategy Editing, or if there are alternative machining strategies that are required.
Note - Adding operations to a completed Program entails some risks to the stability of the overall output. Regeneration may be required once edits pass certain thresholds.
To add a finishing operation, click on the Add finishing operation button in the header of the Program view.
Once selected, the Add finishing operation panel is displayed:
Fill in the information in the panel to add an operation.
- Select faces for operation - Click the Select faces for new operation button,
-
Pick the faces on the part - In the 3D view, select the faces to add or remove from the part. Some selections will not be available. Use the color-coded faces to help with selections.
- Yellow - Selected faces - Currently selected faces
- Blue - Add from another operation - Faces currently in another operation, but valid for the current operation (selecting these faces will move the face into the current operation)
- Red - Add from unassigned - Available faces that are not currently assigned to any operation
- Grey - Not compatible - These faces are not valid for the current operation
- Click Confirm to finish face selection. (Select Cancel to abandon the selection activity.)
- Face selections will be validated by CAM Assist. If successful, proceed to the next step. If unsuccessful, this message will appear, and re-selection will be necessary (return to Step 2.)
- Select the operation type from the Operation type drop-down menu:
