Holemaking Strategy Editing

In the Anaylze phase of CAM Assist, holemaking operations can be edited. This can be useful for various reasons including:

  • Changing the tool assigned to an operation
  • Changing the setup an operation runs in
  • Changing the operation used, (for example from a drilling operation to a helical boring operation)

Editing Holemaking Operations

To edit a Holemaking operation in the Program view, select the Edit button on the right-hand side of the operation row.

In the drop-down menu, select Edit operation

The Edit holemaking strategy panel will open.

Holemaking operation edit items

Within the Edit finishing strategy panel, there are the following controls:

  1. Edit the Tool assembly used for the operation
    1. Change Tool assembly used for the operation
    2. Edit the Tool assembly used for the operation
  2. Change Setup for the operation
  3. Change Operation type
  4. Change the Tool axis for the operation

Note - when selecting tools, only those tools that are valid for the operation are available, with the exception of twist drills, if the user chooses in the Edit holemaking strategy panel.

This selection allows for picking drill diameters that are smaller or larger than the detected hole 3D geometry. This may be the case if the 3D geometry does not reflect design specifications.

After editing is complete, select the Apply button to apply changes.  Choose Cancel to abandon edits, and return to the Program operation listing. Select the lock button to unlock the field.
