Cycle time estimation is now streamlined and integrated directly into the CAM Assist workflow.
Cycle Time Access
Users can view estimated cycle times during the Analyze phase, in the Machinability tab.
Example UI
Cycle Time Estimate Report
In the Cycle Time Estimate Report modal, the default values for the machine used will pre-populate the following fields:
-
Scale factor
The Scale factor is used to compensate for the discrepancies between the calculated cycle time and the actual machining time. This may be necessary to to the acceleration and deceleration during actual machining, equipment efficiency and other factors.
For example, if the initial cycle time estimate is 20 minutes, but the actual machining time is 30 minutes, setting the Scale factor to 150% will improve future estimations.
-
Setup time
- Setup time is the amount of time required to prepare a machine for production before machining begins. This can include:
- Loading and securing tools
- Installing fixtures or workholding
- Loading CNC programs
- Setting work offsets and tool offsets
- Setup time is the amount of time required to prepare a machine for production before machining begins. This can include:
-
Tear down time
- The amount of time needed after production is complete to return the machine or work area to a cleared or ready state.
-
Part to part time
- The time taken in removing a complete part from the machine and installing the subsequent stock for the next cycle.
Part quantity can also be edited. This value is used to estimate the size of the batch being produced.
Below the fields, the cycle time is calculated including:
- Estimated cycle time
- Tool change time for part
- Total non machining time and,
- Total time
Also displayed are:
- Machine used
- Stock material used
- Stock size
- Stock volume
Choose:
- Close to close the Cycle Time Estimate Report modal
- Export to CSV to save a CSV file to your local Downloads folder
The exported CSV file contains the information in the Cycle Time Estimate Report modal as well as detailed operation cycle time information.
