How to Install CAM Assist for Mastercam on a Shared Server

Follow the steps below to install CAM Assist for Mastercam in a shared network drive:

  1. Ensure that the latest version of CAM Assist for Mastercam is installed.

  2. If you have an older version, uninstall it by running uninstall.exe from: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Mastercam 2025\Add-Ins

  3. Install the latest version.

  4. Ensure all users have full permissions to access the necessary folders from the server.

  5. Confirm that your user profile has Admin rights.

  6. Open Mastercam.

  7. Navigate to Files > Configuration to access the System Configuration window.

  8. Under the Files tab, go to Data Paths and select Shared Mastercam Folder.

  9. In the Selected Item field, specify the shared folder path. Select the Shared Mastercam 2025 folder from your network’s shared drive where configuration files, tool libraries, and machine definitions are stored.

  10. Log out of your user profile and log in as Admin.

  • Repeat the steps above in the Admin profile to ensure the configuration is updated for the Admin profile there as well.

  • (Open Mastercam. Navigate to Files > Configuration to access the System Configuration window. Under the Files tab, go to Data Paths and select Shared Mastercam Folder. Specify the shared folder path and select the Shared Mastercam 2025 folder from your network’s shared drive where the config files, tool libraries, and machine definitions are stored.)

  1. Ensure you specify the correct network path to access Shared Mastercam Folder.

  2. Restart Mastercam.

  3. Check if CAM Assist works under the Admin profile.

  4. If it does not work, verify the network path and check for any access restrictions.

  5. If CAM Assist works under Admin, it should also function under the user profile.
