How do I create cutting parameters that can be read by CAM Assist?
Cutting parameters for tools encompass speeds, feeds, step-overs, step-downs, ramp angles, and other relevant variables applied to feeding interpolations for the purpose of material removal. Within CAM Assist 2.0, specific options are available for inputting this information.
- Select "My Tool Libraries" from either the "My Shop" setting located in the bottom left-hand corner or the top right-hand corner within the Prepare Stage.
- Choose the name of the tool library to which you wish to add cutting parameters.
- At the end of the tool column, click on the vertical ellipsis and select "edit."
- Navigate to the tool properties menu at the top of the page.
- Here, you will need to specify the "Allowed uses" in the drop-down box. Each tool has particular types of applications, and this selection is required for proper assignment of cut parameters.
- Next, select "Allowed stock materials" in the drop-down box located beneath "Allowed uses." This step is necessary to attach presets to each material type.
- Upon completion in "Tool Properties," select the Presets page in the top right-hand corner.
- Click the "Add Preset" button, which should add multiple presets per usage type and per material type.
- Select the vertical ellipses at the end of the column, and then choose "edit" where you can input manual parameters. Alternatively, you may select the "Cutting Parameters Explorer" option for inputting parameters. After inputting all necessary parameters, select “Save preset” at the bottom.
- Each preset will provide a list of applicable parameters for input. Once these are completed, CAM Assist will be able to interpret them.
