What is Advanced mode?

Advanced mode in CAM Assist likely refers to an optional mode or set of settings that expose more detailed control and cutting-edge features for experienced users. CloudNC’s interface has an Advanced tab where you can toggle preview features and fine-tune parameters. “Advanced mode” could mean that you have enabled those advanced (perhaps experimental or expert-level) options. For example, Next Generation Roughing was under Advanced > Preview Features, or settings like maximum corner radius, undercuts, advanced freeform – these are in an Advanced section. So turning on Advanced mode might allow the use of those advanced strategies or parameters. It’s not a mode in terms of machining (not to be confused with Machining mode), but rather an interface mode where more sophisticated settings are available.

Why is Advanced mode important in CAM Assist?

This approach keeps the basic usage straightforward for beginners (they don’t see or worry about allthe fine details) while giving power users the ability to optimize further. Advanced options can significantly impact results – e.g., enabling advanced freeform might produce a more refined finish on complex surfaces at the cost of time, or toggling “preserve direction order” for roughing might help in specific scenarios. By segregating these into an advanced area, CAM Assist ensures the default experience isn’t overwhelming, but the capability is there when needed. It matters because some jobs or users will require that extra level of control or want to try beta features. Advanced mode is also where new features appear as optional toggles (like Next Gen Roughing was in preview, or Automatic 3+2 might have initially been an advanced opt-in). For the user, knowing about Advanced mode means you can progressively unlock more potential from CAM Assist as you become comfortable. If something isn’t quite how you want in the basic output, often the solution lies in an advanced setting (like adjusting stock to leave, or enabling undercut support).

Where do I find / enable Advanced mode in CAM Assist?

Advanced Mode can be found in the Prepare phase of CAM Assist. You can toggle it on by selecting the button at the top of the Prepare pane, revealing the Roughing, Finishing and Parameter options.
